Its October and that means Breast Cancer Awareness is plastering pink all over the place. And as wonderful as that is, is it helping YOU? Did you know that breast massage is a common practice to aid in the health of the body as well as maintaining healthy breasts?
In the U.S. Breast cancer is the third most prominent cancer and the second leading cause of death of women between the ages of 35-54; for woman 55-64 it is ranked third. In 2017 alone, over 252,000 new cases of breast cancer were expected in the US.
Breast massage has been a practice in medicine across the world, though not so common here in the states. Science has shown that breast massage may actually help fight cancer by stimulating the Lymphatic system. The highest concentration of lymph nodes ( the little doodads that swell up under your chin when you get sick because they act as filters for the body) are located in the chest and underarm areas. So massaging the breasts and chest muscles help aid the lymphatic system, i.e. immune system.
As a bonus, when you massage your breasts they become full and perky, while also stimulating the secretion of powerful anti-aging hormones such as Prolactin, oxytocin, and estrogen.
Environmental pollutants also play a factor in breast health. People are presently being exposed to thousands of toxic compounds in the form of inorganic chemicals and toxic metals. These toxins are in air we breathe, foods we eat, water we drink and bathe in, pharmaceutical drugs, vaccines, cleaning products, paints, solvents, glues, herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers.
Because of this constant exposure, our bodies are now storing between 400 and 800 toxic metals and chemicals in the fat cells of our bodies. Since breasts are made mostly of fat and therefore, the bigger the breasts, the more susceptible they are to toxic storage as they contain more fat cells.
It has become more important to have an educated way to increase lymphatic drainage and clear these toxins from our bodies!
Not only does Lymphatic Breast Massage help clear toxins from the breast tissue, it also has some other tantalizing effects (think all the good hormones!). Every woman ( and man!) can benefit from breast massage.
So do yourself a favor and schedule and Lymphatic massage or give yourself a breast massage! Or if feeling inclined, let your sweetie do the work for you! Just be gentle, apply your favorite oil, use circular motions that move toward the underarm, and drink lots of water! Get your self love on!
